If you have questions that are not covered on this list, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to help!

  • May I visit the venue without an appointment? You need an appointment to tour the property. You can schedule a private tour on our website, email us at onceuponafarmwv@yahoo.com, call or text us @ 304-661-0800. 

 

  • We are interested in your property for our wedding. How do we guarantee or reserve our date?  To reserve your date, we require a $1000 deposit and a signed wedding contract. A second payment of 50% of the balance is due six months prior to the event date. Payment of the remaining balance is due 60 days in advance of the event. A refundable $500 security deposit is due 60 days in advance of the event. Prices quoted do not include sales tax. 

 

  • Can we use our own vendors for food, photography, etc.? Yes! We have a preferred vendor list but you are not required to use a preferred vendor for your wedding and/or event.

 

  •  Are there  bathrooms on site? Yes! Our bathrooms are brand new and OPEN. They have running water and flushing toilets.  

 

  • Is there parking at the venue? Yes, we have ample on-site parking and a parking attendant/security will be onsite when your guests arrive to the wedding to direct them to the designated parking area. 

 

  • How many guests can your reception barn hold? Our main event barn, The River Barn, can hold up to 200 guests. 

 

  • Do you allow wedding rehearsals? Yes, you have exclusive Friday to Sunday access of the farm: check in Friday at 12 pm and check out Sunday at 10 am. Most brides host their wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner Friday night and wedding on Saturday. No overnight stays allowed.  

 

  • Do you rent table and chairs? Tables and chairs are included in your weekend wedding package. We have 175 white chairs, 27  60′ round tables (seating 6-8), 5  6″ rectangular tables. You are responsible for setting up and taking down the tables and chairs for your event. If additional tables and chairs are needed, we are happy to arrange that for you.  

 

  • Do you have a backup plan for inclement weather? Yes, in the case of inclement weather your ceremony can easily be moved into the River Barn. 

 

  • Do you have an area for the bridal party to change? Yes, we have a dedicated area for the bride and bridesmaids to change and get ready before the wedding ceremony begins. The bridal suite is air conditioned and has a restroom connected. 

 

  • Are there any decorations that are not permitted at Once Upon a Farm? Confetti, bubbles, birdseed, silk or fake flower petals, balloons, pyrotechnics, sparkers, rice and glitter are not allowed. No additional hooks, nails, tape or other items can be applied to our walls. *The use of birdseed is permitted only outside for wedding and reception farewells. We do not allow pets. Open flame candles are not allowed. Only push pins and drafting tape may be used to affix decorations and/or signs. 

 

  • Do you help with the wedding planning and coordinating events on the day of the wedding? No, our wedding weekend prices do not include an event coordinator. We have a day of wedding coordinator available for an additional fee. 

 

  • Will the Once Upon a Farm event team be onsite during my event? Yes, a Once Upon a Farm point of contact (POC) will be assigned to you for your wedding weekend. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by your POC who will remain on property throughout the weekend. We will provide a parking attendant to greet your guests as they arrive. 

 

  • How far is Once Upon a Farm from Charleston? Our venue is approximately 25 minutes from Charleston and 25 minutes to Huntington. We are located on the Kanawha River in Fraziers Bottom. 

 

  • Is the property handicapped accessible? Yes, we can accommodate both elderly and handicap guests. We require advanced notice if a guest requires special accommodations.  

 

  • Can I take my engagement photos at Once Upon a Farm? Yes, we would be honored to be the site of your engagement photoshoot or wedding portraits. As an exclusive feature for our Once Upon a Farm couples, we want you to take advantage of all the land has to offer. Once your event is booked, contact us to reserve a date for your engagement photoshoot, save the date photos, or wedding portraits.

 

  • Do you have a kitchen area for food prep? No, we do not have a kitchen area for food prep but this does not present a problem for caterers and food trucks. 

 

  • Is the barn air conditioned? No, the River Barn is not air-conditioned, but is equipped with ceiling fans, and wide open barn doors designed to bring in the cool breeze from the Kanawha River. Open those doors and enjoy the cool river breeze!

 

  • Are you open for weddings year-round? No, we host weddings April through October. However, at times we make exceptions. 

 

  • If I’ve booked my wedding and paid the deposit can I visit the venue anytime? We host weddings April through October and our venue is rented almost every weekend. You are welcome to come to the farm and take a 2nd (or 3rd) look before your wedding but an appointment must be scheduled in advance. For everyone’s safety, including our animals, our venue has 24hr security and video surveillance
